One of my biggest (absurd) regrets about my trip to Peru?
I should have bought one of those mummified llamas.
This series of images shows a religious procession along the road in Sacred Valley. The glow of the neon costumes in dusk was quite lovely.
(I took most of my photos in Peru in one of two places: the museums in Cusco and out of the car window driving through the Sacred Valley. To be honest, I felt I was having a hard time properly capturing my experience of Peru on film (well, on memory card). I'm pleased to have come away with as many impressionistic images as I did. I'm also glad I took the time to engage with my experience through a sketchbook/journal. That will show up here shortly, too. )
These photos are from a peatonal/mirador cutting through Cusco. I pieced together two photos I shot (one of just roofs, one of the mountains ringing Cusco. Several years ago I did series of landscapes pieced together from numerous photos. The finished product taking on the awkward shapes made by the way in which the images did not perfectly fit together. This is a return to that mode of working. Art school habits die hard.
(I’m going through my photos from the two weeks I spent in Peru. It was a long, full, two weeks. I wish I could have stayed longer - I’m just sort of casting about now that I’m back stateside. A summer cold that won’t die has me down for the count, so at least I have photo editing to keep me busy. )
